MuSool News Letter for January 2014

Hello MuSool Academy Students and Parents,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  I hope this email finds you in great spirits!

New Cycle of MuSool Hapkido Forming
I know this time of the year everyone is making resolutions to become a better person.  MuSool
Academy would like to help.  Parents and Siblings (ages 8 and up) of MuSool Students that have never tried MuSool Hapkido may do the next six week cycle of MuSool Hapkido Fundamentals.  Kids 8 to 12 may come to the Monday/Wednesday 630pm – 730pm Class and Teens and Adults may come to the Tuesday/Thursday 700pm to 800pm Class.  No uniform is required, however we will order you one if you want.

Upcoming Sport Taekwondo Events:

January 11th – Saturday Training at MuSool Academy

January 18th – Spring Field Challenge

January 25th – Florida Sun Coast Games

February 1st – Trinity Taekwondo Training

February 8th – Mt. Dora Challenge

SHIELD Against Bullying Seminar

MuSool Academy will be hosting SHIELD Against Bullying Seminar on Friday, January 17th from 6pm to 8pm.  There are only 15 spots open and 7 have been taken.  Please visit www.shieldagainstbullying.com for more details on the program.
Sparring Gear:

All Tuesday/Thursday Orange and High Belt Classes should start bringing their Taekwondo Sparring Gear.  We will be sparring in some of those classes.

Notebooks:

Students are encouraged to keep a notebook with a copy of the Dojang rules and their belt testing curriculum in it. Both the rules and curriculum can be found in the parent’s room in the black holder.
Parents:

Parents are more than welcome to stay and watch their students in class.  The Masters and Instructors ask that if you are going to talk, to please do so in the parent’s room with the door shut.  If you are in the main Dojang part of the school, it is distracting you your student if they hear talking in the back off the room.

We also ask that when your child is on the mat, that you allow us to handle any needs that arise.  We appreciate your understanding.

MuSool Black Belt Selection:

There is currently no MuSool Students in the MuSool Advanced Training Techniques (MATTs) Black Belt Selection Process.  If a student that is red belt (Taekwondo) or higher would like to get selected into the MATTs Program, please show up to the Testing scheduled on February 15th, and try out.  Please bring full gear and running shoes.

Upcoming Color Belt Promotion Dates:
Currently, Color Belt Promotions are scheduled for Saturday, February 15th.  White and Yellow Belts will test at 9am and High Yellow and above will test at 10am.

Dates may be subject to change.

Taekwondo Promotion Procedures:

Students that go for promotion to Orange Belt and above must have sparring gear and attend sparring classes Friday on a regular basis. If enough classes are not met (including sparring classes), permission for promotion testing cannot be granted.

Promotions are granted based on attitude of the student, aptitude of the student, time limits between each belt, and classes attended between each belt. Parental and School Teachers approval must be met as well.

We take promotions very serious at MuSool Academy and want each student to really earn their next rank. The instructors meet regularly to discuss the progress of each student and the best course of action for their next rank. Obtaining rank takes time and patience on everyone’s part (student, parents, and instructors).
