MuSool Academy Update

Labor Day Closure:

MuSool Academy will be closed on Labor Day.  Enjoy your day off.

Hapkido Promotions:

Congratulations to everyone that earned stripes on their belts in this cycle of MuSool Hapkido.  The next cycle of level 1 and 2 start Tuesday, September 3rd for adults and Wednesday September 4th for Jr’s 8 to 12 years old.

The Sr. MuSool Hapkido Class Promotions
James Shuler and Keith Williams both earned an Orange Belt on August 29th while the rest of the Jr. and Sr. class earned at least one stripe for their current belt.

Here is the breakdown in what is involved in the Level 1 MuSool Hapkido Course.

The course is broken up into 11 regular classes, each one feeding off the classes prior, where you learn specific techniques from one of the four fighting ranges and 1 review class that goes over the previous 11 classes.

The final class is where you put everything together. The 11 learning classes have drills that embed the skills needed for street defense.

After going through this six week course you have a pretty good idea what skills you need for street defense. After doing the course 7 or 8 times, the student should be able to defend themselves from 95% of the attacks that come at you in a self-defense situation.

The student will then obtain a green belt and move to the Level 2 Program where we re-enforce the Level 1 Course but add more to the students arsenal.

The next Level 1 program starts on Tuesday. I hope to see you there.

MuSool Hapkido Seminar and Green Belt Testing:

On November 23rd, there will be a Level 1 MuSool Hapkido Seminar and Green Belt Testing from 9am to 5pm and the testing from 530pm to 630pm.  The cost of the seminar is $65.00 and will include the testing if applicable.  The seminar does not guarantee passing of the Green Belt Test.  The seminar is open to everyone but students must be at least in Orange Belt in MuSool Hapkido or a Black Belt in another art to be considered for the Green Belt Testing. Please RSVP by November 1st to ensure your spot.

We take promotions very serious at MuSool Academy and want each student to really earn their next rank. The instructors meet regularly to discuss the progress of each student and the best course of action for their next rank. Parents:
Parents are more than welcome to stay and watch their students in class. The Masters and Instructors ask that if you are going to talk, to please do so in the parent’s room with the door shut. If you are in the main Dojang part of the school, it is distracting you your student if they hear talking in the back off the room.
We also ask that when your child is on the mat, that you allow us to handle any needs that arise. We appreciate your understanding.

The Friday Night Fights at MuSool Academy Open Class.
Taekwondo Time/Curriculum Changes:
After the first week of the Taekwondo time and curriculum change, it is apparent that the change was a great move for the MuSool Academy students. The end of August and September is the start of the martial arts industry’s busy season. Last year in our beginning Taekwondo class (White – Orange Belts), we had upwards to 30 students per class. This year we are averaging 10 to 15 per class. The smaller numbers will help the learning curve and help the MuSool Black Belt Instructors in reaching their goal of producing well trained Martial Technicians The new curriculum’s goal is to produce well rounded Martial Technicians. The focus on the teachings will be 1. Character Development 2. Self-Defense 3. Sport Taekwondo.

Upcoming Color Belt Promotion Dates:
