MuSool Color Belt Test and MATTs Entrance Exam Update

As most of the MuSool students know, Saturday February, 26th MuSool Academy will be hosting a color belt test. The testing will also serve as a MuSool Advance Training Techniques (MATTs) Entrance Exam for Red/Brown Belts and above.

For the Taekwondo students that are testing, you should have received an application form in the last two weeks. This application form needs to be returned with the testing fee no later than Friday, February 25th. The parents of all students testing must sign the back of the form along with their teacher. If you have not received a application and feel you are ready to test, please see Master Creech, Master Moore, or Instructor Dileo today.

The testing fees are as follows:
Up to Green Belt - $55.00
Green Belt and above - $65.00
Black Belt Checks - $35.00

The testing times are as follows:
10am – Yellow, high yellow, orange, and high orange, high red and deputy black belt candidates test
11am – Green and up test.

VERY IMPORANT: Student’s that receive an application are not guaranteed promotion. If your child receives this application, it guarantees that the instructor that signed it has conducted classes in accordance with the MuSool Black Belt Board and each student had the opportunity to learn the set requirements and skills set by the board.

Because the Hapkido students are mainly adults, there is no application for their testing to be signed by a parent or teachers. You will get your instructors blessings verbally. Your testing is set for 9am. The Dojang will open at 830am. Your testing fees are same as above.

For the students that are going to try to get into MATTs. If you are testing for a belt the entrance fee is free. If you are just doing the MATTs entrance exam then there is a $35.00 fee.

Prior to being accepted into MATTs the minimum physical requirements must be completed and witnessed by a MuSool Black Belt. So far, Bradley Shuler is the only student to complete the run, pushup, falling/rolling sets and situp requirements. The requirements are as follows:

Entrance into Exit MATTs:
MATTs: 1.5 mile run – 16 minutes or less under 15 minutes
Pushups – 20 35
Situps – 30 50
Falling/rolling sets- 5 10

Good luck to everyone that is trying out. MATTs is the final step to the MuSool Black Belt.

MuSool Academy Shines at the Mt. Dora Challenge

Students of MuSool Academy competed of February 19th at the 2011 AAU Mt. Dora Challenge. The event director said that there were 130 players from around the state.

Devyn Corrales and Jacob Corrales both placed first in forms. Dylan Cimiluca placed second in forms. Hanna Ward placed third in forms.
Tippy Pack-Brown placed second in Breaking. Shelby Creech IV had no one in his division so he did breaking in the 8 to 10 year old red belt division and placed
4th.

Under the AAU Rules, if a competitor gets seven points ahead of his competitor then he automatically wins that match.

In Sparring Dylan Cimiluca point gapped his first competitor. His next match was Jacob Corrales. The match proved to be one of the best of the day but Jacob Corrales pulled out two extra points to take 1st place giving Dylan Cimiluca second place in the Division.

Shelby Creech IV point gapped his player to take home first.
Hanna Ward placed second her sparring division and Tippy Pack-Brown won third place. Both girls sparred gallantly and represent MuSool well.

MuSool Master Chuck Moore served as one of the referee’s for the event and MuSool Master Shelby Creech III coached the team. Instructor Allana Creech along with some of the MuSool Parents helped with getting the players ready. MuSool once again, Shined!
