MuSool TaeKwonDo Team Dominates State Championship

The MuSool TaeKwonDo Team dominated the 2009 AAU Florida State Championships on Saturday April 25th in Kissimmee, Florida. The event drew in between 500 and 600 top level players from around Florida.

The seven member team won an impressive four gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal in sparring. Six of the wins that the team had were by the seven point gap rule. The team also won a silver medal in forms.

Isabelle Kiester took a gold medal in sparring winning one of her matches by the seven point rule and she also placed silver out of ten players in forms.

Jackie Lauricella, Jesse Midyette, and Josh Godawa all took gold in sparring winning their matches by the seven point rule.

Bo Godawa placed silver winning two of his three matches in the first round by the seven point rule. His second match only lasted 32 seconds.

Gus Ben-Hamo won a silver medal by winning his first match but losing in the finals. Jason Midyette placed third after losing in sudden death overtime in a very close match.
Each team member is invited to the 2009 AAU National and Jr. National Championships June 30th to July 3rd in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

MuSool TaeKwonDo Team to Compete at AAU State this Weekend


Seven members from the MuSool TaeKwonDo Team will be competing for top honors at the 2009 AAU Florida State Championships in Kissimmee this weekend. The top 8 finishers in both the forms division and the sparring division will be invited to compete at the 2009 AAU Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida June 30th through July 3rd.


The team members competing are Jackie Lauricella, Jason Midyette, Gus Ben-Hamo, Jesse Midyette, Bo Godawa, Josh Godawa, and Isabelle Kiester.

Several team members from MuSool Academy qualified for the 2009 UUAT Jr. Olympic and National Championships in Austin, TX. The event will be held June 30 through July 5th.

Jackie Lauricella, Jason Midyette, Jesse Midyette and Josh Godawa will compete in the World Class Division at the event.

The next event for the team is the AAU Florida State TaeKwonDo Championships in Kissimmee, FL on April 24th and 25th.

MuSool TaeKwonDo Team Competes at USAT Qualifier


The MuSool TaeKwonDo Team will be one of many teams competing at the Florida Qualifier this Saturday and Sunday. Schools as far north as West Virginia and west as Texas are registered to compete. This is the first of five Qualifiers held around the USA. Other USAT National Qualifiers to be held in 2009 are in Buffalo, N.Y. (April 18-19), Austin, Texas (April 25-26), San Jose, Calif. (May 9-10) and Colorado Springs, Colo. (May 16-17).
The top four finishers in each division will be invited to the 2009 Jr. Olympics and National tournament in Austin, TX June 30th to July 5th.

The top 4 winners of the 14 to 17 and 18 to 32 year old Black Belt Divisions at the Jr. Olympics and Nationals will be invited to team trials where they can compete against each other for a place on the US National Team.

On Saturday April 4th, Jason Midyette, Gus Ben-Hamo, Josh Godawa, and Isabelle Kiester will compete for top honors. Sunday April 5th, Jackie Lauricella and Jesse Midyette compete. Team Member Bo Godawa is unable to compete do to injury. Shelby Creech will coach the team.

For the students that wish to come and cheer on the team, doors open at 8:30 a.m. with competition starting at 9:00 a.m. on both days. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Adult (10-59) tickets are $10 for a single-day pass or $15 for a two-day pass. Children (6-9) and seniors (60+) are $7 for a single-day pass and $10 for a two-day pass. Kids 5 & under are admitted free of charge.

Dayton Plumb Receives his High Yellow Belt

Dayton Plumb received his High Yellow Belt on April 2. He tested along with nine other MuSool Color Belt Students on March 21st. Congratulations to Dayton and everyone else that was promoted.
